Winter Learning Journey

Day 4
Bonus Activity
I think that Farewell spit should not be banned because people from other countries might want to travel to Farewell spit and explore the forests.

Winter Learning Journey

Day 4
Activity 2

Only males are allowed to ascend to chiefdom in a Maori tribe in New Zealand. This ancient custom is upset when the boy child selected to be the next chief dies at birth. However his twin sister, Pai (Keisha Castle-Hughes), survives.

At age 12, she enlists the help of her grandmother (Vicky Haughton) and the training of her uncle (Grant Roa) to claim her birthright of chiefdom. But to break with convention, she'll have to do the impossible: win over her ultra-traditional grandfather (Rawiri Paratene).

She tries to get her grandfathers attention but nothing she does is good enough. At the end of the movie something special happens between her and a whale, the legend of her ancestors which changes her grandfathers mind.

I give this movie a 5 because it has really good acting and the story about a family coming back together and a girl never giving up is inspiring.

Day 4
Activity 1
They were trying to keep the whales wet with their chilly bins, water bottles, cooking pots and mixing bowls to fill with water to keep the whales wet.

To cover the whales they  were putting t-shirts and towels and sarongs on top of the whales to cover their blowholes.
