Summer Learning Journey Week 4 Day 5

Day 5 - Looking into the Future
Activity 1 - Your Future Self
Take a minute to think about your future. What would you like to do when you finish school? Would you like to work in a specific job? Would you like to study at university? What would you study? Maybe you’d even like to move overseas. Share your thoughts and ideas on your blog site. There are no wrong answers!
What I would like to do when I finish school is to travel all around and maybe explore all the places. Another thing that I would like to do when I finish school is go to insane places and photograph the places, people and landscape. Another thing that I would like to do when I finish school is to get my license and drive everywhere with my mum. I would like to visit Mexico because I went on youtube and I saw building a house in Mexico part 1 and part 2 so then I clicked on them I saw both of the videos. The video is by Bratayley, they actually building that house for a homeless family because they have been living in a tent and I would love to build some houses for the homeless people. That’s why I want to go to Mexico.

Activity 2 - Flying Cars
Let’s imagine that you’ve just learned to drive, and your family has decided to buy you a brand new car. You are allowed to choose from any of the following designs:
I would like to choose the black one because I think that red and white is really hard to keep clean because white and red gets dirty easier.

Bonus Activity - Blade Runner 2049
On your blog write a description of what New Zealand will be like at that time (80 – 90 years from now). What kind of houses will people live in? What will they eat? Where will they work?

I think the houses that people will live in will look rich and so awesome. I think that the houses will look like that there is windows on the ground where you can walk on and you can see the ground that is water underneath the house. One of the window will be a secret door to the ocean. The house on the inside are the cool patterns. There will also be a outdoor shower and you can close the door and even at night time you can turn on the lights. I think that they will eat food from new stores. I think they will work at shops or be a farmer.

Summer Learning Journey Week 4 Day 4

Day 4 - Contemporary Entertainment
Activity 1 - Moana
Watch the trailer for Moana and then write a summary of the movie on your blog. If you’ve seen the movie, you can include your favourite part! Tell us as much as you can about the movie. What is it about? Who are the main characters in the movie? What do they do in the movie? Where do they go?
My Favourite part is of the movie was when Moana restore the heart of Te Fiti and she was so beautiful when she grew out of the lava.

Who are the Main Characters in the movie?
The Main Characters are Maui and Moana.

What do they do in the Movie?
Maui and Moana save the world by returning the heart of Te Fiti.

Where do they go:?
They are going to Demon Teka.
My Summary:
I think it’s about a Polynesian girl from the fictional island of Motunui, her name is Moana. Who has been chosen to go save the world because a demi God, his name is Maui, stole the heart of Te Fiti and now Moana have to save the world. So Te fiti has now turned into a lava monster, Moana had a big and fun adventure with Maui like fighting a bunch of mean coconuts, trying to get Maui’s hook from the crab and trying to get back Te Fiti by defeating Demon Teka.

Activity 2 - Country Calendar
Watch this short clip from Country Calendar. What do you think would be the most interesting and/or challenging things about being a farmer? Would you would like to be a farmer when you are older. Why/why not? Give us, at least, two reasons to support your answer.
I think the challenging things about being the farmer is that the animals might not listen to the farmer.

I think I would probably be a farmer when I am older.

1. I would probably be a farmer because I want to do all those things.
2. I would probably be a farmer because I want to Shave the sheep’s hair.

Bonus Activity - Singing a Different Tune
Think of your favourite song. Share the name of the song, the name of the person who wrote the song and the lyrics from the song on your blog. You must type the lyrics not cut and paste them in order to earn full points for the activity.
The name of the song is New Rules.
The Person who wrote the song and sings it is Dua Lipa.

I think the song is about breaking up with a boy and she decides move on from him so she also decides to come up with new rules so she doesn’t go close to him or even see him anymore

This is on of my favourite song because I love her voice and because I love the beat to the music.

Lyrics from the song:
One, one, one, one…
Talkin’ in my sleep at night making myself crazy
(Out of my mind, out of my mind)
Wrote it down and read it hopin’ it would save me
(Too many times, too many times)

My love, he makes me feel like nobody else, nobody else
But my love, he doesn’t love me
So I tell myself, I tell myself

One, don’t pick up the phone You know he’s only calling
Cause he’s drunk and alone

Two, don’t let him in
You”ll have to kick him out again

Three, don’t be his friend, you know you’re gonna wake up in his bed in the morning and if you’re under him
You ain’t getting over him

I got new rules, I count ‘ em
I got new rules, I count ‘ em
I gotta tell them to myself
I got new rules, I count ‘ em
I gotta tell them to myself

I keep pushin’ forwards, but he keeps pulling me backwards
(Nowhere to turn) No way
(Nowhere to turn) No

Now I’m standing back from it, I finally see the patterns
(I never learn, I never learn)
But my love, he doesn’t love me so I tell myself, I tell myself
I do, I do, I do

One, don’t pick up the phone You know he’s only calling
Cause he’s drunk and alone

Two, don’t let him in
You”ll have to kick him out again

Three, don’t be his friend, you know you’re gonna wake up in his bed in the morning and if you’re under him
You ain’t getting over him

I got new rules, I count ‘ em
I got new rules, I count ‘ em
I gotta tell them to myself
I got new rules, I count ‘ em
I gotta tell them to myself

Practise makes perfect I’m still tryna’ learn by heart
(I got new rules, I count ‘ em)
Eat, Sleep and breathe it
Rehearse and repeat it, ‘cause I (I got new, I got new I...)

One, don’t pick up the phone You know he’s only calling
Cause he’s drunk and alone

Two, don’t let him in
You”ll have to kick him out again

Three, don’t be his friend, you know you’re gonna wake up in his bed in the morning and if you’re under him
You ain’t getting over him

I got new rules, I count ‘ em
I got new rules, I count ‘ em
(Oh, whoa-oh)

I gotta tell them to myself
I got new rules, I count ‘ em
(Baby, you know I count ‘ em
I gotta tell them to myself

Don’t let him in, don’t let him in
Don’t, don’t, don’t, don’t
Don’t be his friend, don’t be his friend
Don’t, don’t, don’t, don’t

Don’t let him in, don’t let him in
Don’t, don’t, don’t, don’t
Don’t be his friend, don’t be his friend
Don’t, don’t, don’t, don’t

You gettin’ “over him”

Summer Learning Journey Week 4 Day 3

Imagine that you had to form a coalition government with two other people.  Who would you choose to partner with?
I would form a coalition with my son, Aronui, and with my friend, Amber. Aronui would be a great addition to the coalition because he is funny and kind. He would make us laugh and take care of us. Amber would be great because she is really smart and thoughtful. She is also good at making decisions. I think that we would form a great team. What about you? Who would you choose? Why?
I would chose my best friend Akesa because she makes me laugh so much at that my eyes start to water and because she is also smart and my teacher Mrs Middleton because she helps me a lot and she gives me what I need.

Activity 2 - Migration
Speaking of home, where do you live? On your blog, please post a picture of your hometown and provide a list of three things that tourists, like us, could do if we came to visit. What do you like most about your hometown? (Remember the guidelines for being Cybersmart, and never post your address online).

1. Tourists could do like scavenger hunting.
2. They could also split up in teams and  do some exploring over the places.
3. They could also explore the ocean and find other creepy and interesting sea creatures.

What I like most about my hometown, is that the people like to celebrate the events and other people are really welcoming.

Bonus Activity - Modern Learning Environments
Imagine that you are a teacher, and design your own classroom. What would it look like? What furniture would you have? I would love to have some beanbags for reading on.
Draw a floorplan of your classroom (either in Google Draw or on paper) and upload it to your blog. Describe what is special about your classroom and why you designed it this way.
I’ve drawn a classroom with pink carpet and bright coloured tables. I also included a kitchen so that we can do cooking every day and a HUGE bookshelf because I love to read! What would you like to see in your classroom?

Summer Learning Journey Week 4 Day 2

My sporting hero is Lisa Carrington. She is an incredible rower, and last year she was awarded the prestigious  Lonsdale Cup for her amazing results in 2016! She spends hours training, and I think her commitment to her sport is inspiring.
I don’t have a sporting Hero but I chose Gabby Douglas. Gabby Douglas is a very famous artistic Gymnast, she has been one of the episodes on Kickin it. She was a member of the United States women's national gymnastics team, She was a member of the gold-winning American team at the 2011 and the 2015 World Championships.

Summer Learning Journey Week 4 Day 1

Week 4 - Contemporary Kiwis
Day 1 - Turn of the Century (2000-2010)
Activity 1 - Celebrating a win
On your blog, tell us what you and your family do to celebrate special events, such as birthdays. Do you have a special meal or go to a specific place? In our house, we usually make a pizza and bake a special cake. What about you?
What my family and I do to celebrate events is that my mum cooks Tongan food and then we like to eat what she cooks. On Christmas day which is also my birthday, we celebrate by having a tent outside, in the front and my mum cooks food for us, like chicken, sausages, potato salad and salad. Then they sing happy birthday to me and I open up my presents. At night time, we also celebrate Jesus’s Birthday too. What I like to do sometimes on Christmas is to pray to Jesus and saying happy Birthday to him and thank you for what he has done for us.

Activity 2 - Lord of Rings
Imagine that instead of spending the money on the movies, Peter Jackson decided to give all of this money to you. Lucky you! On your blog, tell us what you would do with $300 million dollars. How would you spend it? It is a lot of money so please think carefully about it and spend it wisely :-)
What I would do with $300 million dollars is probably give $100,000 to the poor people. I would spend it on my family. Another thing that I would do with $300 million dollars is get some clothes, shoes and go on vacation with my family to Fiji or Hawaii.

Bonus Activity - The Rise Of The Selfie
In honour of the rise in popularity of the ‘selfie,’ take a selfie and post it on your blog. Try to show us at least one of your hobbies or one your favourite things (maybe a special toy or book). For example, here is a selfie of Hazel drinking a big mug of tea, and Rachel with her son, Aronui, attending a Paw Patrol show!

One of my hobbies is reading books and I love reading books but not that much because I like spending time on different things. I love reading because you get to learn new words and the definition of them, you can maybe get ideas from the book for your writing if you are writing a story or something.

Bonus Activity - You Have To Pay To Play
On your blog, tell us what you think. Should students have to pay money (tuition fees) to go to university? Why or why not?
I think that they shouldn’t have to pay because what if they need money to buy themselves food.
Also, thousand of dollars is a lot of money that some people might not have.

What if they are poor and have no money to go but they are smart and want to go.
