You can keep New Zealand beautiful by….
1 Litter, trash that people drop all around the ground, is an eyesore. Worse, it can be harmful to children, animals, and the rest of the environment. If you see some trash on the ground around your neighborhood, don’t assume someone else will take care of it. Be proactive in taking care of where you live.
2 Mow your lawn. Longer grass doesn't look good on a lawn, so help out the neighborhood by keeping yours neat and trim.
3 Add plants. One way to beautify your home is to plant trees or flowers around your house to add to the landscape.

1 The name of the famous person
Vin Diesel

2 Where they were born?

3 Why are they famous?
director, writer and producer Vin Diesel was born Mark Vincent on July 18, 1967, in Alameda County, California. Diesel and his twin brother Paul were raised by their mother Delora and their stepfather, Irving H. Vincent. Their biological father split from their mother before they were born.

4 Two other interesting facts about them?
1 Vin Diesel is an actor known for high-energy action movies that include 'The Chronicles of Riddick' and 'The Fast and the Furious' franchise.
2 Working as a bouncer also left his days free to audition for roles and study English at New York's Hunter College. Diesel drew inspiration from his days as a struggling actor for his first self-made film project—an enterprise that helped launch his career.

Winter Learning Journey

Day 5
Activity 1
Curious Kiwi took us into this lovely Regional Park called "The Lewis Park Scenic Reserve". It was amazing. There was colorful birds were flying and doing tricks their bodies were blue, orange and green.

There were big and tall trees everywhere and there was mountains,a little dirty lake, big and small rocks and some animals were eating somewhere else and there were some old signs that were dirty

I stopped to look at this tree that had no leaves,it was made like in a skeleton and there was a hole like it was someone's mouth, and the top of the tree was a nest but the nest was so ugly that there was rotten eggs on the nest.

When I had finished walking around the tree and admiring it I noticed that the forest was really quiet but then a black bird was flying around then he made a noise and it crept me out then five groups of three birds flew above me and it crept me out even more.

I was the only person there and Curious Kiwi and the rest of the group were gone. I couldn't hear their voices. I was all alone and I looked at the sky and they turned black and there was a little bit rain coming down from the sky.

I started to feel like someone was watching me,it felt like a black dark shadow or a creepy animal was watching me and I thought that someone was following me,my body was shaking because I was full of horror.

Then I could hear branches break on the floor at the back of me then more and more branches started to break then I turned around And it was Curious Kiwi and the rest of the group then I said “Hey guys” then Curious Kiwi and the rest of the group said “Hey”.

As soon as I saw them I ran fast as I could and I went to go hug them super hard.

Winter Learning Journey

Day 4
Activity 2

Only males are allowed to ascend to chiefdom in a Maori tribe in New Zealand. This ancient custom is upset when the boy child selected to be the next chief dies at birth. However his twin sister, Pai (Keisha Castle-Hughes), survives.

At age 12, she enlists the help of her grandmother (Vicky Haughton) and the training of her uncle (Grant Roa) to claim her birthright of chiefdom. But to break with convention, she'll have to do the impossible: win over her ultra-traditional grandfather (Rawiri Paratene).

She tries to get her grandfathers attention but nothing she does is good enough. At the end of the movie something special happens between her and a whale, the legend of her ancestors which changes her grandfathers mind.

I give this movie a 5 because it has really good acting and the story about a family coming back together and a girl never giving up is inspiring.

Anzac Haiku

We have been learning about Japanese poetry called Haiku. A haiku is a poem with 3 lines. The first line has 5 syllables, the 2nd line has 7 syllables and the 3rd line has 5 syllables.

I was inspired by the story of the girl who had a dad fighting the war and I thought about how I would feel if it was my dad.
