Summer Learning Journey Week 3 Day 2

Tuesday 31 December
Week 3: Experiments and Gadgets
Day 2: Cracking the Code
Activity 1: Through Careful Observation
I choose the Starry Night because I really love the background which is blue, which is one of my favourite colors. I also chose this one because it has more colors and it was very eye catching and easy for me to describe.

I see that the wind is howling through the air, the moon coming to life, houses being dismissed and stars shining bring.

Activity 2: Overcoming Adversity
The hardest challenge for me was to see my little nephew get buried when he only had 5 or 4 days to live, I think that it was the hardest challenge and day for me to go through because it’s losing someone that you love. Losing someone that I love is my greatest fear. I think he died because it was too early for him to be born. But as the days went by, I realised that he is in a better place and he blessed with God’s heart and I know that he will do great in Heaven.

Activity 3: Hidden Figures
Before I tried the coding app I thought it was going to be difficult but after I have tried it, it is actually fun and awesome and I really like this site. I like this site because it can help students to think carefully. This app is very great.

Summer Learning Journey Week 3 Day 1

Monday 30 December
Week 3: Experiments and Gadgets
Day 1: Driving Digital Innovation
Activity 1:The World Wide Web
  1. The blogging site is very helpful to me because it helps me to share the evidence of my learning with other people, it also lets other people know what I am doing.
  1. My class site is very helpful to me because it has things like timetables, weekly notices and others that tell me what to do or what is happening.
  1. Youtube is very helpful and useful site to me because you can do many things like watch videos that help you with learning or watch something that you need help with like building something and more.

  1. Gmail is another important site that is also very helpful because you get emails that are important and you need to email people important things. It is very helpful because you get notified if someone has commented on your blog and you also get notified from something that you are using like Canva or from Pinterest.

Activity 2: Influencers
If I were to have a Youtube Channel, it would all be about DIYs like LaurDIY and vlogs, I chose DIY because I love it how you turn something into your own creation which is pretty awesome.

Activity 3: Apple VS Microsoft
  1. Muhammad Ali Vs Joe Frazier
Muhammad and Joe was both African American and they were actually privately friends before their first match in 1971. In that first fight, Joe continued to keep the heavyweight championship with a decision over the previously undefeated Ali who was returning to the ring for the second time since he didn’t take anything home of the championship in 1967. In their rematch in 1973, Ali won a controlling decision over Joe.

Summer Learning Journey Week 2 Day 5

Friday 27 December
Week 2: I have a Dream…
Day 5: Humanitarian Heroes
Activity 1: Everyday Heroes
  1. Maybe we can send them extra clothes and more fire clothes because they might need it. We should send them extra clothes because I feel they probably lost some or most of their clothes in the fire.
  2. We could give them money by fundraising by having a bake sale or a garage sale or just something like that. I think that Fundraising is one of the best ways to raise money.
  3. Maybe a class from some schools should write them a positive card because I am pretty sure writing a positive with definitely keep them positive and happy.
  4. We can send some food like tin canned food or maybe food that is completely sealed and properly closed.
  5. I would help them by gathering a construction team helping them build them a new house or just rebuild their house.

Activity 2: Leading my Example
For my random act of kindness, I shared my Ferrero Rocher chocolates from my birthday present with my little niece. She said thank you to me and she said that the chocolate was delicious, it made me feel proud of myself and that I am following in their footsteps.

Activity 3: Choose your Own
  1. Rosa Parks
  2. Rosa Parks is the one who stopped the segregation because she thought that the segregation needed to stop and it was right. She fought for voting rights, women’s rights and the rights of people in prison, she even flew to different places to let others know about the fight and to join in the fight.
  3. Rosa Parks has inspired me to make a difference in the world just by doing something a little like picking up rubbish whenever I see it. She probably inspired others to make a different too.

Summer Learning Journey Week 2 Day 4

Week 2: I have a Dream
Day 4: Indigenous Rights
Activity 1: Guiding Principles
Activity 2: Celebrating Diversity
  1. Some people keep track of the days in their sacred calendar in order to to time rituals and celebrations.
  2. A man watches the sun and the stars to know when to plant.
  3. There are old cities buildings that were constructed to be placed in a line with the sun, moon and stars.

  1. In Japan, there are not many opportunities for people to be exposed to Ainu language and culture.
  2. Between 1871 and 1876, the Japanese government forced the Ainu to be Japanese citizens without their permission.
  3. The Ainu language was forbidden and the people were forced to speak Japanese.

Activity 3: Wise Words
One of my best friends (Sia) is one of the many role models that I look up to, she is a role model to me because I know that she goes through rough times but she still gets back up again and continues to be happy as she always is. She is also a role model to me because she is always strong to me and she is a lovely person.

Sia’s Advice:

I think that for all those you want to follow their dreams all you have to do is keep going, try your best, work had and never give up. Always be positive and remember that you can do anything with God.

Activity 1: The Right to Vote
Image result for rosa parks
For Kate’s replacement, I would chose Rosa Parks because she has made a change that needed to be changed in the world, I think that Rosa Parks is an amazing woman because she fought for what was right. I also think that she is an amazing woman because I feel like if there was anything that needed to be changed, I feel like Rosa would make that change. I also chose Rosa because she is very brave and she is well known for making a change.

Activity 2: The Right to an Education
This is a story that I decided to write about me losing someone that I love.

Gone But Never Forgotten
It was heavier than I expected…
I was joyful eating with my friends then I got a call from Detective Lance, I thought it was just another case but it’s worse than that, when Detective Lance told me that my brother died in a car crash the news just went into my right ear and out to the left ear.

I left the phone to slip to the ground and dropped down on my knees, “Annie!” my friends shouted came to try pick me up from the ground. “I have to go home now, right NOW!!!”  I screamed immediately “What happened?” Veronica asked “M-m-my….mum is d-d-dead” I said with a cracked voice.

“Dad!!! Dad” I cried, his arms was open and was ready for me to hug him, “Shhh baby, it’s gonna be okay” My dad trying to calm me down. “The road was very slippery and it was pouring so hard, another car crashed into him” Detective Lance explained

*2 weeks later the funeral was over, Annie and her father moved on from the death of their beloved mother but there were times that they thought of her.*

Activity 3: Bell of the Ball
Image result for carla's sandwich

Carla’s sandwich is about a who is named Carla and she brings different sandwiches everyday to school, she brings like peanut butter, crackers and cheddar cheese in a pita bread or banana with cottage cheese. She gets teased by students in her class but she still brings weird sandwiches. Carla and her class had a picnic and when a boy who teases Carla because of her sandwiches forgets his lunch, Carla gives him one of her sandwich and he actually liked it. Everyone tried it and everyone liked it so they started bringing weird sandwiches to school everyday.

I like this book because Carla was just being herself and she didn’t even change herself because other people were teasing her just because she was bringing weird sandwiches everyday. Being yourself is what matters, I would like to say this because I know that a lot of people judge, Don’t judge a book by its cover.

Summer Learning Journey Week 2 Day 2

Tuesday 24 December
Week 2: I have a Dream…
Day 2: Taking Action
Activity 1: A Long Walk to Freedom
I think that Mr Mandela did nothing and just started at the wall because he was given nothing to play with or to do something with, only letters that only came in every six months and he could only read those letters. But at night he would read and study to be a lawyer, I also think that all he did was stared outside too. I know that he felt lonely because there was no one in the cell with him to talk with but there was someone sending him letters and he was able to see one visitor  so at the same time I don’t think that he was lonely.

Activity 2: School Strike for Climate
  1. They are striking because they want to tell the governments to take the future seriously.
  2. We shouldn’t burn Coal because burning coal can kill the environment.
  3. Gas and Oil is also killing the environment.
I sometimes pick up the rubbish around the house because I feel like littering can damage the environment also and I have seen a lot of rubbish in oceans, seas, rivers and more.

Activity 3: “I Have a Dream”
Image result for rosa parks

1 day Rosa Parks was on her way home from the city, a bus driver told Rosa to stand up and let a white passenger take her seat but Rosa said “NO” because she was sick of the rules and she had enough. Rosa was taken to Jail but she wasn’t scared because she knew that what she was fighting for was right. Rosa Parks is a very brave woman who thought that the segregation was very unacceptable. I feel like she was known for being brave because she had enough of the segregation so she flew to different places like New York and San Francisco to convince other people to join the fight. She even went to the Supreme Court and decided that treating black people differently from the white people on buses was wrong. She also said that the rules are going to CHANGE!, Rosa fought for voting rights, women’s rights and the rights of people in prison.

Activity 3: ‘Dear Jacinda’
Dear Jacinda,
There is a massive issue that I am writing to you about, there are a lot of kids dying in Samoa because of Measles, 42 people have died and 38 of them are kids. Maybe you can find a way to cure them or just to keep them alive because I hate seeing people die and maybe you can even pay them a visit. I really hope that you find a way so that these precious people in Samoa get to live their lives to the fullest and I know that this is going to be difficult, which is why I am sending you good luck.
Thank you Jacinda!

Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Day 5

Friday 20 December
Week 1
Day 5: Against the Odds
Activity 1: National Treasure
  1. My netbook is important to me because I have already broke my 1st netbook that was given to me by my cousin and when I broke it, I wasn’t thinking properly because I broke it by playing with a little truck toy and my netbook was right beside me and the toy accidentally hit the screen of my old netbook. I told my teacher and then she told me it’s alright and then she gave me a new netbook, which I am using right now.
  2. My family is so important to me because they are everything to me and without them I don’t know what I would do, they are also important to me because I love them so much. They mean everything to me and they are there when I need them.
  3. My best friends are important to me because they make me smile like mostly everyday and they are like sisters to me and I love them so much, my best friends are Kesa and Sia.

Activity 2: Swimming to Safety
In 2015, Yusra and her elder sister fled and set off a dangerous journey to Europe to find safety, they travelled through Lebanon to Turkey before leaving for Greece in an overcrowded dinghy however 15 minutes into the sea crossing, the boat’s engine failed so Yusra didn’t want to let any of her passengers drown. Yusra is also a professional swimmer, Yusra, her sister and two others swam for three and a half hours in open water to stop their dinghy turn upside down. They saved 20 people.

Activity 3: Own Choice

  1. Tamatea
  2. Tamatea sailed all around the North and the South Islands and also explored inland, he was sometimes called Tamatea-pokaiwhenua which means land explorer or Tamatea-pokaimoana which means sea explorer. He was one of New Zealand’s greatest explorers and has been described as the Maori Marco Polo.
  3. I think that him travelling to different places definitely inspired people to travel anywhere they want and definitely inspired them that they can get far by just doing what they love.
