Summer Learning Journey Week 2 Day 2

Tuesday 24 December
Week 2: I have a Dream…
Day 2: Taking Action
Activity 1: A Long Walk to Freedom
I think that Mr Mandela did nothing and just started at the wall because he was given nothing to play with or to do something with, only letters that only came in every six months and he could only read those letters. But at night he would read and study to be a lawyer, I also think that all he did was stared outside too. I know that he felt lonely because there was no one in the cell with him to talk with but there was someone sending him letters and he was able to see one visitor  so at the same time I don’t think that he was lonely.

Activity 2: School Strike for Climate
  1. They are striking because they want to tell the governments to take the future seriously.
  2. We shouldn’t burn Coal because burning coal can kill the environment.
  3. Gas and Oil is also killing the environment.
I sometimes pick up the rubbish around the house because I feel like littering can damage the environment also and I have seen a lot of rubbish in oceans, seas, rivers and more.

Activity 3: “I Have a Dream”

1 day Rosa Parks was on her way home from the city, a bus driver told Rosa to stand up and let a white passenger take her seat but Rosa said “NO” because she was sick of the rules and she had enough. Rosa was taken to Jail but she wasn’t scared because she knew that what she was fighting for was right. Rosa Parks is a very brave woman who thought that the segregation was very unacceptable. I feel like she was known for being brave because she had enough of the segregation so she flew to different places like New York and San Francisco to convince other people to join the fight. She even went to the Supreme Court and decided that treating black people differently from the white people on buses was wrong. She also said that the rules are going to CHANGE!, Rosa fought for voting rights, women’s rights and the rights of people in prison.

  1. Hi Dianne - Well done on posting and participating in the SLJ this year. What can you do to be a changemaker - what will your legacy be? Keep blogging, and commenting on others, to increase your chance of winning one of the awesome prizes and to keep up your learning over the school break!
